Just keep swimming....swimming ...swimming

The great words from "Dori"...ya know; the fish from "Finding Nemo." I use this little chant/tune when I know there lots to be done. When my kids here it they KNOW to either stay out of my way or help with what ever I'm focused on.

People ask me how I handle multiple roles. Most of the time it's just about doing what needs to be done. My mother-in-law, Pam Zweifel (wonderful woman) had NO IDEA she was pregnant with twins. Not until the delivery time! How do mothers of multiple newborns do it??....They figure it out and JUST KEEP SWIMMING!

There are days I definitely don't "get it all done"...even when I stay up 'til 1 am trying.
There are days I am exhausted... days I stay in bed or chill on my couch reading a magazine or great book. I've learned NOT to beat myself up and know .... There's nothing wrong with that.

My most important role is the one I don't get paid monetary for. PARENTING. This role Mark and I can't afford to STOP SWIMMING! I have learned that is one of the greatest tactics of the enemy -- to flaunt whatever I'm struggling with to try to get me to wallow in feelings of pity or inferiority so much so that I stop whatever I'm doing. However, if I'm aware of his tactics, I can always prepare. Of course, I'm aware he's after me and my kids.

"Just keep swimming...swimming...swimming... and moving forward is what sets any effective person apart from someone who isn't. The commitment to stay in the race and not quit despite whatever we feel is one the most important traits we can possess. I guess if anyone feels like quitting or "throwing in the towel"...at least there's some to quit. Right? Life is not just about us existing, it's about us fulfilling our purpose determined by God.

I've got
plenty to quit if I wanted to...but I made up my mind a long time ago not to. I guess good parenting helped with that. I saw my parents STICK through the tough times; not "quit" through them. Thanks mom and dad.

OK...now that that's off my chest. Busy week. Fresh new group of interns will be arriving from the lower 48 (along with out Alaska students). WOW! What an amazing time they'll have. Mark and I are so privileged and excited to be apart of this.
