Listening moments

You ever just had those moments when you listen to everything that's going on around you? I mean....STOP and listen to everything. Last night I was at a banquet and although it was a great time of seeing friends and enjoying somewhat good food.....I stopped and listened for a moment. That moment happened to be when people were sharing their visions of particular areas of their life. But do you know what I heard? The clanging sounds of spoons, forks, glass goblets etc.... Don't get me wrong.....I was listening to the speakers too! But, when the main attraction (such as the speaker) isn't the main attraction anymore because it's being muted by the "tiny" things in life....we can be in a bit of trouble (Spiritually speaking). I'll preach on that one someday. I NEVER knew a couple of hundred people could be so LOUD with their eating utensils.

But here's where it can be ever so uplifting. This morning I'm "shooing" my kids out the door, trying to get my house in somewhat of an order, lunches, pony tails, change baby, feed baby, go to work...and I feel a little overwhelmed! So, I'm sitting here righting this blog and experience another one of those "listening moments". And here's what I hear:

Paityn breathing loudly in her playpen about ready to fall asleep
The slight sound of her sucking her thumb
The birds sounding so beautiful outside my loft window
Me typing this blog
Me breathing at a pace where I'm not rushing

I like what I hear. And, at times I need to stop "The Main Attraction" which could be me running around trying to get everything in place and focus on the sounds I usually don't notice.

I'm looking forward to doing that today.
