I've been EATING a lot at home.....

Spiritually speaking.....of course. "But I thought the church was supposed to do that?" Well you thought wrong my friend. While church is essential, I don't expect it to fulfill all my spiritual DIET needs. I'm required to eat at home.

Mark and I have seriously been working on preparing "well balanced nutritional meals" for ourselves and our girls. Knowing this will obviously benefit our physical health and habits. However, I see feeding myself "spiritually" every morning will have a much more long lasting effect for them in the future too. Don't get me wrong....I believe there's GOT to be a balance of both. I'm trying my best daily to live this out.

FINE EXAMPLES: My husband remembers every morning seeing his mother either reading her bible or praying on her knees before he went to the barn to milk the cows. I recall my mom praying over me every morning while I was still sleeping in bed before she set out for work (oh the smell of her "Oil of Olay"). Our moms are known for their amazing MAD skills in the kitchen. My friends used to spend the night knowing my mom was going to throw her "Mexican food spread" the following day. But much to my surprise....they and I will always remember how she was a "woman of God." Feeding herself at home as much as she could. Not that I'd ever want to have any sort of eating disorder.....My heart goes out to those who struggle with this. But may God someday know me as a woman who BINGED on Him and His word daily!!!

May I never be someone who eats nothing spiritually all week long and show up to church weak and sick spiritually and expect my pastors or leaders to do a miracle. The truth is that God expects you to lift the spoon (or fork) to your mouth during the week. I've met people who are needing a spiritual I.V. by Sunday Morning. And we wonder why many church services across the land are anemic/weak? They are filled with anemic people -- we ARE the church, so if we are anemic as individuals, the church could quite possible be too.

My advice....EAT A LOT MORE (at home).
